Yep.  I'm not going to lie, the waxing process can be unpleasant.  After all, body hair is being removed from the root.  I am fast and experienced, but not a miracle worker.  The amount of unpleasantness experienced varies from person to person.  A couple of ibuprofen approximately 30 minutes before your appointment time should help with pain and/or swelling.  Please do not drink before getting waxed.  Alcohol causes the blood vessels to rise toward the top of the skin and stimulate the nerve endings.  Not what you want before being waxed.

Generally, hair needs to be 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch long in order for the wax to adhere to it.  In practical terms, this means about the length of an eyelash.  For most people, 2 weeks of hair growth is sufficient.

That depends on the individual and how long you have been waxing.  I tell clients to plan on regular visits between 3 and 4 weeks apart.  If you stay regular with your waxing appointments, and do not shave in between, eventually you can push appointments out to 6 to 8 weeks.  This does not mean you will be hair free for this entire time.  However, with regularity, hair will come back thinner and finer.

Do not use any topical medications (like Retin-A or cortisone) for at least one week prior to waxing.  Please refrain from tanning (either at the beach or in a bed) the day you plan to get waxed.  If you've had a doctor administered peel or laser resurfacing within the 1-2 years, you cannot get waxed.

Do not use any harsh scrubs or exfoliants, take any super hot baths, expose yourself to indoor or outdoor sun without sunscreen, or use deodorant (if you've had an underarm wax) for 24 hours after a wax.

No.  This is a great old wives' tale.  As stated above, with regular waxing hair comes back thinner and finer than prior to waxing.  People associate thicker and darker hair with shaving stubble.  The difference between hair growth after shaving and waxing is that with shaving, you are making a blunt cut against a hair.  When it continues to grow, you have the thickest part of the hair rising up and feeling thicker than it was before.  With waxing, you have a brand new hair rising through the follicle:  a new hair that is tapered, not bluntly cut.

Nope.  Not unless you want to.

If possible, do not schedule a waxing appointment during the week before your period starts.  It makes everything (even eyebrow waxes) more painful.

First, what constitutes a Brazilian wax can vary from place to place.  For me, a Brazilian wax means all the hair comes off the front of the genitals and the anal region.  No hair left behind.

Now that we're on the same page, what can you expect when you come in?  I provide you with a private area to undress, from the waist down.  You can use the baby wipes I provide to freshen up before the service.  I will trim the hair if necessary.  When I wax, I try to work from side-to-side, just in case you need to call it quits.  When I wax the bum, I have my client roll onto her side.  Nobody will be getting onto "all fours" for this wax.  The first Brazilian can be quite intense; I am very much in your business, but I try to have fun and make it the least embarrassing experience for you that I can.

Your first appointment with me for a Brazilian will be booked for 45 minutes.  This is to ensure time for you to fill out paperwork, relax (as much as you can) and to ask questions.  In the future, I should be able to get you waxed in about 20 minutes.

Ladies, please do not plan to get a Brazilian wax on the day of your anniversary, or your partner's birthday, or Valentine's Day, or any big event day.  That area will be looky, no touchy for 24 to 48 hours.  Trust me.

As for other waxing appointments, it depends on what you're doing and how fast your hair grows.  Generally speaking, I advise waxing 2-3 days before a big event.  Otherwise, come on in when you need it.

Everyone's pain threshold is different.  I've waxed my eyebrows, upper lip, chin, underarms, arms, full legs, and had numerous Brazilians.  For me personally, the upper lip is the most painful wax.
